According to NBA insider Brett Siegel, there's a growing skepticism about the Miami Heat's chances of trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Miami Heat are traditionally one of the most aggressive suitors in the NBA, frequently appearing at the top of the list for disgruntled All-Star players seeking a change of scenery.
Miami Heat / Schedule
As one of the biggest markets in the league with a few obvious needs regarding offensive consistency and frontcourt depth, Pat Riley and the Heat front office are reportedly looking to land a franchise-altering superstar this offseason, a move they haven't successfully executed since the sign-and-trade for Jimmy Butler in 2019.
Miami Heat are not expected to land Giannis Antetokounmpo
But, according to NBA insider Brett Siegel, Giannis Antetokounmpo may not be the superstar savior destined for South Beach.
Siegel notes that there is growing skepticism within the league about the Heat's chances of trading for Giannis.
The NBA reporter also reveals that two heavy hitters from the Western Conference have emerged as the primary aggressors in exploratory talks with the Milwaukee Bucks, specifically the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors.
Ja Morant could be new Miami Heat trade target
Siegel also noted that if a Giannis trade doesn't happen, the Heat could opt for Ja Morant.
"Then all of a sudden other things could start happening for the Heat; maybe they go get Ja Morant, who we know the Heat have a firm interest in, maybe if the Heat know they don’t have a shot at getting Giannis anymore, they then finalize a trade for Ja Morant," Siegel concluded.
