Darius Garland is the newest member of the Los Angeles Clippers.

He may not play right away, haven't missed his ending stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers due to injury.

But when he takes the floor, it won't be a first. A Garland has already played for the Clippers.

A 6-foot-2 point guard, Winston never played for the Bucks, instead being dealt immediately to the Golden State Warriors, where he had three of his best seasons.

He was moved to the Clippers midway through the 1989-90 season and spent the next season-and-a-half there.

With the Clippers, Winston averaged 8.9 points, 4.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

He would go on to play for the Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves before his career ended.

Darius Garland learned from his dad and grew into a college star at Vanderbilt who went fifth overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The son has been injury prone in his NBA career but both a creative scorer and stellar passer when he's on the floor.

The Cavs chose to go with the veteran presence of Harden over the uncertainty of Garland, but adding Garland to the Clippers' roster gives them a more promising future.

It also gives them a cool link to the past.
