Three reasons big Chelsea should be very excited for Wolves game after dreadful defensive…

Chelsea’s setup against Arsenal last night has caused a bit of controversy.

Despite trailing 3-2 from the first leg, the Blues set up defensively and didn’t bring on their attacking stars until later in the game. It was too little, too late, and they couldn’t find the goal they needed.

However, rather than dreading Sunday’s game against Wolves after that, we’re rather excited for it. Why? Well, we think it’s going to be quite the palate cleanser.

The most important thing to be excited about is the team we’re going to put out. Against Arsenal, Reece James and Pedro Neto were not in the squad, and Estevao and Cole Palmer weren’t in the starting lineup. All four could be ready to play on Sunday, restoring all the creativity and flair we need to this team.

The second reason is the opposition – yes Wolves are improved of late, but they’re still bottom of the league and should be easy to score against – at least compared to Arsenal.

The third is the desire of the new coach to show what he’s made of – he’ll know the decisions against Arsenal weren’t too popular, and will want to send out his group with great license to attack.

Combine all those things and Sunday’s game should be like a different sport compared to last night’s.

In other news…

Trevoh Chalobah spoke to the media after the defeat to Arsenal and pointed out that it was just the “final details” his team were missing in a close game. Sadly those final details are always the hardest to get right.

Andrey Santos also spoke to the media after the game, and he was clearly frustrated by Chelsea’s failure to create the chances they needed to to win the game.
