Real Madrid could renew their interest in Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister having received encouragement over a move. The Spanish giants were previously eyeing a swoop for the 2022 World Cup winner during Carlo Ancelotti’s spell in charge.

Real did not firm that interest up, with the Italian eventually departing. But Los Blancos seemingly still have Mac Allister in their sights.

According to The Athletic, the Argentine remains well liked at the club, having received ‘positive feedback’ on a potential switch the last time he was admired. Mac Allister’s current deal at Liverpool has just 18 months remaining which could make a deal slightly more feasible.

Mac Allister, 27, joined Liverpool from Brighton in 2023 and he has gone on to make 129 appearances for the Reds, scoring 17 times. He recently scored a brace in Liverpool’s 6-0 Champions League victory against Qarabag.

Speaking after those strikes, he said: "I love getting in the box and I love scoring goals. I know I don’t do it very often but I really like it and I think with the change at half-time, I went a little bit higher on the pitch and that allowed me to get in the box a little bit more.

"My second goal was a little bit lucky but good and then I’m still thinking about the third one! It could have been a hat-trick, my first one."

Mac Allister is not the only midfielder being considered by Real Madrid ahead of this summer’s transfer window. Como’s Nico Paz looks likely to return to the club, with Real holding a €9million (£7.7m) buy-back clause.

AZ’s Kees Smit and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton are also both candidates for a switch but neither are expected to be cheap. The Dutch side want to bank around €60million (£51.6m) for Smit, while Palace have slapped a price tag in excess of £100m on England star Wharton.

Away from midfield, Real are also thought to want to bolster their defence ahead of the 2026/27 season. Dani Carvajal is expected to leave the club this summer, which would leave former Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold as their only conventional right-back.

The England man completed his own move to Spain last summer, having run down his Liverpool contract. He has since made just 11 appearances for his new club, with injuries having blighted his debut season at the Bernabeu.
