Draymond on potential trade: ‘What a f---in’ run it’s been’

Draymond Green is prepared to say goodbye to the only NBA team he’s ever known.

The four-time NBA champion conceded that he might have played his final game as a member of the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night in a 113-94 loss to the Philadelphia 763rs.

The 35-year-old Green has been widely rumoured to be part of any Warriors offer to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“I think a lot of people wanna know how I feel about it,” Green said of the rumours. “Like am I upset about it? I’m not at all. If that’s what’s best for this organization, that’s what’s best for the organization. I’m not like ‘Ah, man! They f---ed me over!’ or something like that. I don’t really feel that way.”

A native of Saginaw, MI, Green is in his 14th season out of Michigan State, originally taken with the 35th overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft. Green says there’s nothing he would change about his career.

“If you would’ve told me 13 and a half years ago, ‘Yo, I’m gonna hand you this sheet of paper and you can sign it to be in a place for 13 and half years - would you sign it?’” Green said. “And I would’ve signed it faster than you can blink. So what do I have to sit and worry about? What do I have to be upset about? I’ve been here for 13 and a half years. That’s probably longer than 98 per cent of NBA players have been in one place.”

A four-time All-Star, Green says he hasn’t been told anything yet about a potential trade.

“I don’t know that it ends at 13 and a half [years], but if it does, what a f---in’ run it’s been. I’ll take the fine for it: what a f---in’ run it’s been. So that’s just how I feel and I don’t sleep well after games, so if I lose sleep tonight, I promise y’all it’s not because I think I’m getting traded.”

Green has appeared in 42 games for the Warriors this season, starting all of them. He’s averaged 8.4 points on .413 shooting, 5.7 boards and 5.2 assists over 26.6 minutes a night. One of the best defensive players of his generation, Green is counting his blessings.

“I’m blessed, I’m lucky, I’m grateful,” Green said. “Like I said, my family has not had to move anywhere since I started my family. That’s incredible. I don’t take that for granted. There’s guys who are moving every year, moving their families, moving two or three times in a year, so I have so much gratitude for where I am in my career, the run that I’ve been on here. Like I said, I don’t know that it ends or not, I don’t. We’ll all see, but if it does, it does. All good things must come to an end at some point.”

The NBA’s trade deadline is set for 3pm ET on Thursday afternoon.
