The Bulls initially offered Nikola Vucevic and a future first-round pick to the Cavaliers for Jarrett Allen, but after the offer was rejected, they traded Vucevic to the Celtics in exchange for Anfernee Simons and a second-round pick.
Nikola Vucevic's trade to the Boston Celtics wasn't the Chicago Bulls' first choice, according to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer.

League sources told The Stein Line that the Bulls initially offered Vucevic and a future first-round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jarrett Allen, but the offer was rejected.
After that, Chicago turned its attention to Boston, completing the Vucevic-for-Anfernee Simons swap, with the Celtics adding a second-round pick.
For the Bulls, the deal brought in Simons, a talented scoring guard who can create his own shot and provide much-needed firepower in the backcourt.
Vucevic, meanwhile, heads to Boston, where he'll give the Celtics a skilled starting big man capable of stretching the floor and contributing on both ends – a perfect fit for their roster needs before the February 5 trade.
