On Wednesday night, the Minnesota Timberwolves are paying a visit to the Scotiabank Arena for a match against the Toronto Raptors, as they look to bounce back from a loss earlier in the week. The defeat came at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies, who were powered by the recently departed Jaren Jackson Jr., who scored 30 points on 47 percent shooting from the field.
This would be enough for the Grizzlies to soar above the Timberwolves’ several notable performances, as Donte DiVincenzo, Jaden McDaniels, and Anthony Edwards all scored 20 or more points in the loss. While DiVincenzo would drop 21, and McDaniels would put up 29, the aforementioned Edwards would put up a team-high 39 points, doing so on 48 percent accuracy.
Whilst the 24-year-old was a big contributor on Monday night, he might not have the chance to build on it against the Raptors, as he has been downgraded prior to the match. According to Minnesota's injury report, Edwards is "questionable" due to soreness in his left elbow.
This comes in the midst of what has been quite a productive season for the former Georgia Bulldog, as Edwards has appeared in 41 games, averaging 29.7 points and 5.2 rebounds. The only injury woes that the 24-year-old has suffered from were a right hamstring strain in late October, which kept him out for four games, as well as a right foot injury in December, which barred him from appearing in three matches.
In games without Edwards this season, the Timberwolves have held their own, posting a 6-4 record.
If the three-time All-Star is to miss out on Wednesday night's action, Minnesota head coach Chris Finch will have a few options to choose from, including Bones Hyland, Jaylen Clark, and Rob Dillingham, amongst others.
The Timberwolves are set to take on the Raptors on Wednesday night, with tip-off from the Scotiabank Arena slated for 7:30 p.m. EST.
