Five of Newcastle United’s players have been ruled out of tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final - and another might not be available either.
The Magpies travel to the Etihad this evening (February 4) for the second leg of their Carabao Cup tie with Manchester City, with a 2-0 deficit to overcome.
Newcastle will be hoping to bounce back from a string of frustrating Premier League results, having drawn 0-0 with Wolves and lost 2-0 to Aston Villa in recent weeks. Last weekend was no better, with the Magpies being thumped 4-1 by Liverpool.

Manager Eddie Howe will be without at least five of his senior players this evening - and another player is a major doubt for the game.
Speaking about the second leg at a press conference, Howe said: “It's going to be an almighty challenge. There's no greater challenge than Manchester City. We believe in ourselves and are going to give it a good go.

“We just have to try to win the game. If we have that mentality and attack the game then let's see what we can do.”
As far as injuries are concerned, defenders Fabian Schar and Tino Livramento are sidelined with ankle and hamstring injuries respectively. Both are due to return by mid-April at the latest. Emil Krafth has a knee injury, and is not expected back in the foreseeable future.
In midfield, Joelinton is still recovering from a groin injury that has kept him out of action since mid-January.
Midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is unlikely to feature either, after picking up an ankle injury. Lewis Miley is also not expected to take part in tonight’s game.
