Troy Deeney reckons£30m Chelsea player really isn’t enjoying football at the moment

Liam Rosenior has some decisions to make when it comes to team selection after trying a number of different things at Chelsea.

Chelsea have a quick turnaround with Wolves away on Saturday in the Premier League. An opportunity to put things right against the worst side in the division.

Despite their woes, Wolves have looked dangerous still on the counterattack, so it won’t be a straightforward game, especially at Molineux.

But one thing that Liam Rosenior really needs to sort out is his selection. Chelsea looked at their best in the second half against West Ham. They were defensively sound and incredibly dangerous.

Pedro Neto and Reece James should be back in the squad, so there can be no excuses.

Did Rosenior get his tactics wrong against Arteta? 🤔

Hindsight is a wonderful thing…

Liam Delap is really struggling at Chelsea right now

Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea for around £30 million, has struggled to hit the same heights he hit at Ipswich Town prior to his move to Stamford Bridge. Just two goals for the Blues isn’t a great return when you consider the fact that he’s their only real number nine.

One thing that didn’t help against Chelsea was the fact that Delap was played out of position on the right-hand side. You could see he was rather uncomfortable with having to take a defender on.

But Troy Deeney has put his struggles down to him not enjoying his football at Chelsea, when talking on the Football Xchange podcast.

“He looks, he doesn’t look like he’s playing with any fun. It’s like how do I you know hit someone with a big shoulder which gets the fans showing that I care?

“And you know if he came through at Ipswich I’d go okay fair enough. Like that’s kind of the lower league thing that you have to do.

Is Liam Delap not good enough for Chelsea or are we not playing to his strengths?🤔

“But he’s from City.

“You know, you’ve been at a massive club. You know how these teams play.

“You were you were educated in this in this style of play to be running off the shoulders.

“And I don’t know, maybe it’s the injuries, maybe it’s the transfers, maybe there’s some stuff going on that we don’t know about off pitch, but it just feels to me like he needs a break.

“He needs like he needs like the summer to come and just like get yourself off to Mykonos for a couple of weeks and just think it just feels heavy.

“When you look at someone like Kerkez, you look at someone like Kerkez who’s like, you can see he’s battling through it, like he’s had that initial, wow, I’m at Liverpool. This shirt’s heavy. Now he’s battling.

“It feels to me like Delap has gone, this shirt’s heavy.”
