Anfield is set for an emotional reunion on Saturday, March 28th, as Liverpool FC Legends host Borussia Dortmund Legends in this year’s LFC Foundation charity match, with a 3pm GMT kick-off. The fixture marks a decade since the memorable 2016 Europa League quarter-final, when the Reds produced one of the greatest Anfield comebacks, defeating Dortmund 4-3 on the night and 5-4 on aggregate.

Jurgen Klopp has already been confirmed for the game, with the German set to be part of the management team alongside Sir Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, and John Aldridge. The confirmed LFC Legends squad is already brimming with Anfield heroes. Captain Steven Gerrard, Champions League-winning defender Sami Hyypia, and goalkeeper Pepe Reina have all been announced as part of the squad. The match will see past greats representing from both the men’s and women’s teams

Now, five more iconic names have been added to the Reds’ lineup, bringing even more star power to this charity show piece. Dutch cult hero Dirk Kuyt, who made 285 appearances for Liverpool, returns to Anfield alongside stalwart defender Martin Skrtel, who played 320 times in Red. Vladimir Smicer -scorer of the second goal in Istanbul – completes the men’s trio.

The women’s game will also be represented with Liverpool FC Women ambassador and record goalscorer Natasha Dowie joining her former teammate Louise Schillgard, who will make her LFC Legends debut. Both forwards were instrumental in the Reds’ back-to-back Women’s Super League title triumphs in 2013 and 2014.

Thes annual legends fixture has become a cornerstone event for LFC Foundation, with the previous nine matches raising over £9 million to support vital community programmes.

All proceeds from this year’s game will benefit LFC Foundation, Forever Reds, and the BVB Foundation, funding employability programmes that help people find work, gain qualifications, and develop new skills. The initiative plays a crucial role in the Foundation’s ambitious strategy of supporting 500,000 people per season by 2030
