Chelsea Football Newsletter

Chelsea and West Ham have been charged by the FA for failing to control their players during their Premier League clash at the weekend.

It is alleged that both clubs “failed to ensure that its players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way in the 95th minute at Stamford Bridge.

The incident in question occurred shortly after Enzo Fernandez had scored to complete the comeback for Chelsea as they had trailed 2-0 at the break.

A mass confrontation between both sets of players, started by Adama Traore’s push on Marc Cucurella, resulted in Jean-Clair Todibo being shown a red card following a VAR intervention.

Todibo was sent-off for violent conduct after grabbing Chelsea goalscorer Joao Pedro around the neck.

Chelsea and West Ham have until Friday, February 6, 2026, to respond to the charge.

“West Ham FC allegedly failed to ensure that its players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way at the same time.

“Both clubs have until Friday, 6 February, to provide their respective responses.”

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was left disappointed by Todibo’s actions with the Frenchman now set to serve a three-game suspension.

“I didn’t see the images,” Nuno said. “I think it was a big confusion. A lot of stress on both teams.

“That is disappointing. But I have to see the images so I can judge properly what happened. VAR intervened. We don’t have him for the next games.”
