Joao Pedro says Estevao Willian is doing something‘brilliant’ behind-the-scenes at Chelsea

Estevao Willian will be more than pleased with how his first season at Chelsea is going.

Despite only being 18 years of age and having just arrived in England, Estevao is already one of Chelsea’s best players.

The winger has come up with some big goals for them, including in wins against Barcelona and Liverpool.

He could not prevent the Blues from being knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, but both he and fellow signing Joao Pedro have been excellent additions at Stamford Bridge.

Did Rosenior get his tactics wrong against Arteta? 🤔

Hindsight is a wonderful thing…

Joao Pedro reveals Estevao Willian is working hard to improve his English

Pedro has been in England for much longer than Estevao so is trying to help his teammate with the language barrier, as are the Spanish speakers in the Chelsea dressing room.

However, according to the former Brighton & Hove Albion forward, Estevao is already working hard himself to improve his English.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ One on One, Pedro said: “I think everyone wants to help him. And we also have a lot of Spanish players who can help him as well, because Spanish is similar to Portuguese, and we try to make it easier for him when he doesn’t understand, when the gaffer says something to him or he translates to him.

“Yeah, I think his mentality is brilliant because he wants to learn, he wants to improve, so I think soon he will be speaking fluent.”

Has Joao Pedro been Chelsea’s BEST player under Rosenior? 🔥

Even with a small injury…

While Estevao did feature in Chelsea’s second-leg defeat to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, he missed the Blues’ stunning 3-2 comeback win against West Ham United.

The Brazil international was allowed to travel back to his homeland because of a personal matter.

Joao Pedro and Estevao Willian two of the Premier League’s best signings

In terms of signings made last summer, there is no doubt that Pedro and Estevao have been hits, especially the former.

Pedro has been Chelsea’s most deadly attacker lately and has outperformed the other big-money forwards signed last year, such as Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres and Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko.

Chelsea were interested in Sesko when he was still at RB Leipzig but will be glad that they have Pedro instead.

In 33 appearances this season, the Brazil star has scored 12 goals and provided five assists. It is a very respectable return.

If Liam Rosenior can get Pedro, Estevao and Cole Palmer all on the pitch at the same time and clicking, you will be looking at one of the best attacks in the Premier League.
