Anthony Davis traded from Dallas Mavericks in blockbuster deal

The Dallas Mavericks are trading star big man Anthony Davis to the Washington Wizards as a part of a blockbuster deal, [according to NBA insider Shams Charania](https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/2019119800098963674?s=20).

Davis is being sent to the Wizards, along with Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum, according to Shams. In return, the Mavericks are receiving Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, two first-round picks and three second-round picks.

The move for Dallas comes a year after the Mavericks landed Anthony Davis from the Lakers in a deal centered around Luka Doncic.

Dallas is clearly making this move with rebuilding in mind as it is loading up on picks in an effort to surround rookie sensation Cooper Flagg with more talent. The Mavericks are currently 19-31 on the season and have lost five straight games.

Davis, who was injured for much of his time in Dallas, is currently dealing with a hand injury. The 32-year-old has been sidelined since Jan. 8 and is expected to miss about six weeks.
