Domantas Sabonis expected team after trade deadline revealed

The Sacramento Kings are expected to keep Domantas Sabonis past the February 5 trade deadline after talks with the Raptors stalled over draft pick compensation.

The Sacramento Kings are now expected to keep three-time All-Star center Domantas Sabonis past the February 5 trade deadline, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Sacramento Kings / Schedule

"All signs point to Sacramento big man Domantas Sabonis remaining in Sacramento past tomorrow's deadline," Amick reported. "Per team sources, the Kings view the prospect of sending him to the Toronto Raptors as flat-lined, so to speak."

Trade discussions between the Kings and Toronto Raptors, which included RJ Barrett and Ochai Agbaji, have stalled due to disagreements over draft pick compensation.

Toronto is reportedly hesitant about parting with too much first-round draft pick compensation, especially with Jakob Poeltl potentially needing to be moved to a third team to complete the deal.

This season, Sabonis has played in 18 games, averaging 15.4 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists.
