Hornets add former Tar Heel in trade with Chicago Bulls, reports say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Charlotte Hornets have added a key piece to the team on Wednesday, as they traded for former North Carolina Tar Heel Coby White, 24 hours away from the 2026 NBA trade deadline, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The Hornets on Wednesday, Feb. 4, reportedly traded for Chicago Bulls guard Colby White and Mike Conley Jr. in exchange for Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng, and three second-round picks.

Charania is also reporting that the Hornets had acquired Dieng from the Oklahoma City Thunder for Mason Plumlee, and then Dieng was rerouted to Chicago as part of the trade.

The Hornets currently sit in 11th place in the standings at 23-28 and currently on a 7-game win streak tied for the most currently with the New York Knicks.

So far this season, White is averaging 18.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists on 43.8% shooting.

White was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. In his career, White has started 251 games while averaging 15.4 points, 3.9 assists, 3.7 rebounds per game. He has appeared in 451 games.
