Liverpool must beat Man Utd and Tottenham to sign £100m star after phone calls made [view]

Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United could be set for a huge summer transfer battle over one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League.

The trio all hold a strong interest in signing Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton in 2026, with the England international the latest talented player to potentially leave Selhurst Park.

The Eagles have already lost Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi in recent months, with Oliver Glasner and Jean-Philippe Mateta likely to follow them out at the end of the season.

The South London club will also face a fight to keep hold of Wharton, who continues to show he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

According to reports earlier this month, Tottenham consider the Palace star their 'dream' midfield addition after the arrival of Conor Gallagher, with Thomas Frank wanting to add more quality in the centre of the park for Spurs.

GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs also confirmed Man United's interest alongside that of Tottenham in his official newsletter last month.

He wrote:

'I think plenty of clubs are anticipating Wharton as a viable target for this summer. Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich have all made calls. Wharton was also a name put forward by some senior members of Spurs' recruitment team.'

Meanwhile, Liverpool insider DaveOCKOP has claimed that the Reds have held fresh talks over a summer move for Wharton, with the 21-year-old keen on the move to Anfield.

Liverpool have spent the last two windows strengthening other areas of the pitch, with Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz boosting their attack, and Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong strengthening the wide areas.

The Merseyside club will hope that the addition of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes in the summer will boost a centre-back area that was lacking depth, but perhaps the next area that requires freshening up is in midfield.

By the end of the season, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister will have had two years as the club's main options in the centre of the park, and perhaps a fresh face is needed to provide quality and competition for places.

Wharton fits the bill, having been described as 'one of the Premier League's best midfielders' and after helping Palace win two trophies in 2025, as well as regularly being picked for England, he already has that winning mentality and has a big future ahead of him.

Declan Rice believes the Three Lions youngster is already 'top level', and whoever wins the race for his signature will get a player who is only going to get better. Liverpool need to make sure it is them.
