Reports on Wednesday suggest Real Madrid could revive their interest in Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister after receiving “positive” signals about a potential move. The Spanish club had previously monitored the Argentina international under Carlo Ancelotti but did not pursue a transfer further.

With 18 months left on his Liverpool contract, the 27-year-old, who joined from Brighton in 2023, could be a realistic target. He recently scored twice in Liverpool’s 6-0 Champions League win over Qarabag.

At the start of the 2025/26 season, Real Madrid were linked with Dutch midfielder Kees Smit and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, though interest in Wharton seems to have cooled. The club are now assessing their options for the summer.

It’s unclear if Real Madrid will act in the summer, but Mac Allister’s intentions were clear earlier. In a December 2024 interview with AS, he said he’s happy at Liverpool but would “definitely like to play in Spain one day.”

He stated: “It’s a country [Spain] I like a lot and I’ve visited it several times, and, above all, because of the language and the culture, it’s very similar to Argentina. I would definitely like to play in Spain one day. But right now, I’m very comfortable at Liverpool and I don’t think about what might happen in the future.”

Mac Allister has made 129 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 17 goals and providing 17 assists. Last month, his representatives were reportedly approached by the Reds regarding a potential new contract.

Carlos Mac Allister, father and agent of Alexis Mac Allister, commented on the reports linking his son once again with a potential move to Real Madrid. Carlos told WinWin: “What I can say at the moment is that Alexis is focused on Liverpool and the current season. Alexis is very happy and very comfortable with Liverpool.”
