Newcastle United faced off against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result on the road in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final contest. The Magpies made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the seventh minute when Omar Marmoush got his name on the scoresheet. Marmoush scored again for the home side in the 29th minute before Tijjani Reijnders put daylight between the two sides just three minutes later. Eddie Howe’s players were trailing 3-0 at the half-time interval.
Anthony Elanga got a goal back for the Magpies in the 62nd minute, but Newcastle ended up crashing to a poor 3-1 loss away from home, which knocked them out of the EFL Cup.

Burn performed his defensive duties well and was a good presence on the ball.

He caught the eye at times and was replaced at the half-time break.
