There is a significant belief that both new Wizards stars will play plenty of games this season and ultimately secure a long-term contract.
In an unforeseen development, the rebuilding Washington Wizards became a title hopeful on Wednesday with a stunner move to acquire Anthony Davis from the Dallas Mavericks.

With Davis, the Wizards are looking to flip the page and finally transition towards competing. The star big man will form a stupendous tandem with Trae Young in spearheading the promising D.C. squad towards relevance.
As such, there are expectations that both new Wizards stars will play a limited number of games this season, as the franchise will still seek a potential draft board luck.
Davis and Young are also projected to obtain new contracts.
"For Washington, the expectation among sources is that Davis and Young will play very little, if at all, the remainder of the season as the Wizards chase lottery luck, and that both stars will get long-term deals this summer," per ESPN's Tim Bontemps.
"What those look like, and how they impact Washington's books going forward, will also play a part in the ultimate outlook of these trades."
