Liverpool and Man City injury news ahead of the Premier League clash at Anfield.

Liverpool prepare for one of their toughest games of the season when they welcome Manchester City to Anfield on Sunday (16.30 GMT).

The Reds and City have been fierce foes in recent years battling for the Premier League title - but not in the past two seasons. Liverpool cruised to the English title last season, ending Pep Guardiola’s side’s run of four top-flight crowns in a row. City finished 13 points adrift.

However, Arne Slot’s outfit’s title defence has been poor. Liverpool were out of the race to claim back-to-back championships by December. But City have it all to do if they are to regain their place at the summit of English football as they currently trail leaders Arsenal by six points.

Ahead of the game, here’s an early look at the team news for both sides.

Liverpool team news

Conor Bradley - out

The right-back will not play again this season as he battles back from a serious knee injury.

Giovanni Leoni - out

The centre-back has not played a game since rupturing his ACL more than four months ago. His long road to recovery continues.

Jeremie Frimpong - out

The Netherlands international avoided a serious injury when pulling up with a groin problem.

Alexander Isak - out

Slot revealed that the £125 million British record signing is now out of his protective boot for a broken leg but is still not outside training.

Jayden Danns - out

The 20-year-old striker is still on the comeback trail with a hamstring problem. Slot recently admitted that Danns would definitely be in Liverpool's squad with Isak out.

Stefan Bajectic - out

The midfielder has not made a single appearance this season because of a hamstring problem. Bajcetic has had several setbacks and is yet to return to training.

Joe Gomez - minor doubt

The versatile defender has been unavailable for the past two games for a hip problem. Slot has not been overly concerned about Gomez's injury so he could well be back.

Man City team news

Josko Gvardiol - out

The key defender has a tibial fracture and is ruled out for several months.

John Stones - out

The England international has not made an appearance since the start of December because of a thigh problem.

Mateo Kovacic - out

The midfielder is recovering from an ankle issue and isn't expected back any time soon.

Jeremy Doku - doubt

The winger, who was electric in City's victory over Liverpool earlier this season, has missed his side's past two games with a calf problem.

Savinho - doubt

The winger has not been available for City’s past 10 matches.

Ruben Dias - return

The defender was back on the bench against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup second leg.

Rayan Cherki - return

The attacking midfielder was also able to be involved in the Newcastle game.

Marc Guehi - return

The centre-back could well have been starting for Liverpool had he completed a £35 million transfer last summer. Guehi moved to City in the January transfer window but could not play against Newcastle as he was ineligible.
