Hornets acquire Tyus Jones, two picks from Magic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Charlotte Hornets) - Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson announced today that the team has acquired guard Tyus Jones and two second-round picks from the Orlando Magic in exchange for cash considerations.

Jones, an Apple Valley, Minn., native, holds career averages of 7.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 20.8 minutes per game across 730 appearances (226 starts) with Memphis, Minnesota, Orlando, Phoenix and Washington. Originally selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 24th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, Jones is a 2015 NCAA Champion and was named NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player in his lone season at Duke, starting all 39 appearances with the Blue Devils.

Alongside Jones, the Hornets receive the least-favorable of Boston’s own and Orlando’s own 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick via Orlando.
