Anthony Edwards speaks on possible Mike Conley return

Anthony Edwards shared his hope that Mike Conley could return to the Timberwolves after being traded twice. Thanks to the Andrew Bogut Rule, Minnesota could still re-sign Conley this season if he becomes available.

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards addressed the situation surrounding Mike Conley and did not hide his hope for a possible return.

After Conley was moved twice in a short span, Edwards shared a message that showed how much the veteran guard still means to the Timberwolves locker room.

"Hopefully, we can get him back. I don't really know how it goes, but I keep hearing he can come back, so hopefully he will. Hopefully, he sees this. We want you back, Mike. He knows we miss him," he said in a post-game interview.

Conley was first traded by Minnesota to the Chicago Bulls earlier in the season. On Tuesday, the Bulls sent the experienced point guard to the Charlotte Hornets, creating uncertainty around his next move and opening the door to speculation about his future.

Despite trading him away, the Timberwolves could still bring Conley back this season. The situation is possible because of a rule in the Collective Bargaining Agreement known as the Andrew Bogut Rule.

The CBA normally prevents a team from re-acquiring a player it traded for one year. However, this rule only applies to the team that most recently traded the player before he was waived, not the team that moved him earlier.

That detail keeps Minnesota in the picture if Conley becomes available. His leadership, game control, and ability to organize the offense were valued by a young Timberwolves roster pushing for playoff success.

Edwards' comments underline the impact Conley had on the group, both on and off the floor. While no decision has been made, the possibility of a reunion remains alive as the season continues.
