The Mavericks have no plans to trade Kyrie Irving, NBA insider Tim MacMahon reports. Despite his ACL injury sidelining him for much of the season, Dallas remains focused on building a competitive team around Irving for next season.
The Dallas Mavericks have made it clear that Kyrie Irving is not on the trade block, according to NBA insider Tim MacMahon.
MacMahon explained that the Mavericks want to remain competitive next season, which is why the team has shown no interest in entertaining trade discussions involving Irving.
"They want to be competitive next season. That's part of the reason that, to this point, they have shown absolutely zero interest in entertaining trade discussions with Kyrie. I can't promise that Kyrie's going to be here for three or four years, but I do believe he'll at least be here next season," he said on 105.3 The Fan Show.
Irving has been sidelined since last March after tearing his left ACL while playing for Dallas. The injury is expected to keep him out for a large portion of the 2025-26 season, forcing the Mavericks to adjust without their star guard.
Without Irving, the Mavericks have struggled offensively, missing his shot creation, playmaking, and late-game scoring. The team currently sits 12th in the Western Conference with a 19-31 record, fighting to stay in playoff contention.
