Here is the latest Chelsea news, gossip and transfer talk that you may have missed from icchelseanews…
Chelsea have now come out and confirmed that winger Tyrique George will spend the remainder of the campaign on loan at Premier League side Everton, after the decision was to allow the star to leave the club.
The young forward broke into the first-team set-up under Enzo Maresca, but has struggled to become a permanent fixture in the side this term. He has not featured in the last six matchday squads.
He saw a last-minute transfer to Fulham collapse on Deadline Day in the summer, but The 19-year-old still had alot of suiters that were keen to get him signed up this winter transfer window, and the Blues were in talks with a number of clubs over a possible deal.
But in the end, it was revealed right towards the end of the transfer window that Everton were very keen on getting a transfer deal done for George and after a few days of talking, CHELSEA allowed him to leave the club until the end of the season.
Chelsea posted on the club website: ‘George featured 11 times for the Blues during the first half of this season, with goals scored against Lincoln City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ajax.
‘He also earned his first England Under-21 caps, scoring twice in his four appearances for the Young Lions.
‘George, who joined CHELSEA as an under-8 and was developed throughout the Academy age groups, has totalled 37 senior appearances since making his first-team debut, with the 19-year-old finding the net on six occasions.
‘We look forward to supporting Tyrique throughout his loan spell.
‘Good luck, Ty!
MERSON SHOCKED WITH JACQUET DECISION
Gunners icon Paul Merson has opened up and admitted that he is shocked that Jeremy Jacquet refused a move to Chelsea in the January window and instead opted to agree a summer move to Liverpool.
CHELSEA had been exploring a bid for Jacquet and appeared to make a significant breakthrough in their move as they agreed personal terms with the 20-year-old earlier in the January transfer window.
Jacquet has established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in French football in recent months and was heavily linked with Arsenal last summer, but in the final few days of the transfer window, Liverpool struck a stunning deal for the youngster, worth around worth £55million plus £5m in add-ons, blowing their rivals out of the water.
However, Jacquet will remain with Rennes for the remainder of the campaign before joining up with the reigning Premier League champions until the summer, and Merson has opened up and revealed that he was shocked to see that Jacquet made the move to Liverpool and not Chelsea.
‘Yeah, I found that extraordinary that he’s coming in the summer,’ Paul Merson told Sky Sports
‘They need a centre-half in now to fight for the top four or top five. So yeah, it surprises me. I’m majorly shocked. I don’t know why this kid is staying in France until the start of next season,.
‘If you’re paying that amount of money then you’re going, “We want him now, we want him today!”, and that’s the problem.
‘I don’t know if it’s FFP rules, I don’t know if it is that. If that is the reasoning then I understand.’
Jacquet is a good signing for Liverpool and, as a Chelsea fan, I’m shocked that he hasn’t gone to CHELSEA,’ Merson – a lifelong fan of Chelsea – added.
‘I know Chelsea have got a lot of centre-backs but I think there’s a lot that need to come in and out of Chelsea in my opinion. But I am glad Acheampong has stayed but I think he’s going to be a proper, proper player that kid.’
GEROGE EXCITED WITH MOVE
Attacker Tyrique George has opened up and revealed that he is really excited with his move to Everton, after the Blues agreed to let him go there on loan until the end of the season.
He told evertontv: “I’m really excited to be here and to enjoy this massive club. I just can’t wait to get started.
“The fans here are exceptional. I know Evertonians are really passionate. They like hard work – and that’s what I’m going to show. I want to be exciting and I want to impress them.
“The gaffer, David Moyes, was another reason [I wanted to join]. He’s an amazing manager who has coached so many players, like Wayne Rooney, and players like that. I’ve had a brief conversation with him and he’s an amazing person as well.
“I just want to enjoy it, learn under him and improve.”
“I feel ready, ready to make an impact,” continued George. “It feels like an exciting time for the Club.
“I’m going to attack this new challenge. I want to hit the ground running as quickly as possible and hopefully I can do that.
“I’ve seen some pictures of [Hill Dickinson Stadium]. It’s massive and looks amazing, so I’m really looking forward to playing there.”
