New Orleans Pelicans’ small forward Trey Murphy joined some elite company Wednesday night in a 141-137 overtime loss to the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum.
Murphy became just the eighth player in NBA history to make 12 3-pointers in a game.
He set a new franchise record, eclipsing CJ McCollum’s old mark of 11 set back in 2022 in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Murphy’s 44 points was a career high. All 12 of Murphy’s 3-pointers came in regulation.
Murphy was two 3-pointers shy of tying the NBA record of 14. That record was set by Klay Thompson in the 2018-’19 season when he played with the Golden State Warriors.
Murphy is just the second player this season to make a dozen 3’s in a game. Steph Curry made 12 in December against the Portland Trail Blazers. That game also resulted in a loss. In fact, those are the only two times a player has made 12 3-pointers in a game and loss.
Here's the short list of players who have made 12 or more 3-pointers in a game.
Klay Thompson - 14 once, 12 twice
Steph Curry - 13 once, 12 four times
Damian Lillard - 13
Zach Lavine - 13
Keegan Murray -12
Donyell Marshall - 12
Kobe Bryant - 12
Trey Murphy - 12
