“One million percent”: Giannis Antetokounmpo committed if Bucks can compete

Trade chatter has intensified around the Milwaukee Bucks, leaving fans to question whether Milwaukee is nearing a breaking point with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

With Antetokounmpo sidelined by injury and the team slipping further from postseason relevance, Milwaukee finds itself staring at a season that offers little optimism about a meaningful playoff run.

The Athletic’s Eric Nehm asked the Greek Freak whether he would commit to staying in Milwaukee if the organization could chart a path toward sustained contention, Antetokounmpo offered a response that should lift the spirits of Bucks fans searching for hope.

“You’re saying that if they can convince me to stay within the team, and the next year that we can compete? Oh yeah, 1,000 percent,” Giannis commented.

“One million percent.”

Antetokounmpo also addressed where Milwaukee stands right now, openly acknowledging the team’s struggles as it continues to slide in the standings.

“I want to be here, but I want to be here to win, not fighting for my life to make the playoffs. I’m not used to inconsistent basketball. I’ve played so many years of consistent basketball, I am not used to it anymore. During the game, I don’t know if you can see my face, (but) I get frustrated during the game, while the game is going on,” the Greek Freak stressed.

The Bucks have struggled mightily this season and currently sit outside the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Even when Antetokounmpo has been on the court, the team has performed at best around average, and it seems everyone outside Milwaukee has recognized the challenges facing the franchise for quite some time.

At this stage, it’s uncertain how the Bucks could build a path to consistent wins, but embracing a rebuild for the remainder of the season could earn them a valuable draft pick in June. Either way, the trade deadline looms this Thursday.
