Relive six classic WSL home wins against Man City

Whenever we face Manchester City in Women’s Super League action, it's always a lively affair and we've enjoyed some tremendous wins against the Sky Blues down the years.

Here we've picked out six of the best on our own turf,

**May 12, 2018**

**Arsenal 2-1 Man City**

We were very close to City in the standings throughout the 2017/18 campaign and would go on to finish just one point behind them, despite a run of three wins at the end of the season, beginning with this one.

An early goal from Nadia Nadim opened the scoring at Meadow Park, but we responded well in the second half with goals from Danielle van de Donk and Beth Mead, turning the match around.

It was Alex Scott’s final home game before retirmenet and she was given a guard of honour ahead of kick-off.

**May 11, 2019**

**Arsenal 1-0 Man City**

We ended our 2018/19 title-winning season on a high with revenge against one of only two teams that had taken points off of us throughout the whole campaign.

Winning every match apart from defeats away to City and at home to Chelsea ensured we went into this season finale with the trophy already in the bag.

It looked as though we might end a fantastic season with a goalless draw, but an 88th-minute winner from Emma Mitchell ensured there was plenty to celebrate in the end.

**October 27, 2019**

**Arsenal 1-0 Man City**

By and large, we picked up where we left off in 2019/20, winning 11 of our first 12 games of the season, including this one against City.

It was an important one as well, demonstrating bouncebackability to respond to a 2-1 loss at Chelsea. Vivianne Miedema’s 43rd-minute strike was enough to separate the sides in Meadow Park.

Unfortunately, after a couple of defeats dropped us down to third, the season was curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

**September 26, 2021**

**Arsenal 5-0 Man City**

We got off to a fantastic start in 2021/22, beating Chelsea 3-2 at home and Reading 4-0 away before putting five past City without reply.

Miedema struck us into an early lead, one that was doubled by Kim Little in the 23rd minute. It stayed 2-0 until the 60th minute when Katie McCabe made it three, and a penalty from Little as well as a 94th-minute goal from Leah Williamson wrapped up a convincing win.

Despite topping the table until March, Chelsea pipped us to the title, beating us by one point.

**April 2, 2023**

**Arsenal 2-1 Man City**

The 2022/23 season saw us start well with six wins in a row, but that positive form fell away and we were third by the time this game came around. We were on a good run though, having just beaten Liverpool, Reading and Tottenham Hotspur, only conceding one goal in the process.

Things got off to a disappointing start at Meadow Park as it took just five minutes for Khadjia Shaw to fire City into an early lead, but we stayed in the game and got our rewards when second-half efforts from Frida Maanum and McCabe completed the turnaround.

We would go on to lose three of our final six league games, however, ending the season in third, just ahead of City on goal difference.

**November 5, 2023**

**Arsenal 2-1 Man City**

After failing to win our first two games this season, the form picked up towards November and we maintained that in memorable fashion against City.

Steph Catley had us 1-0 up in 14 minutes, but we were shortly reduced to 10 players following Little’s dismissal. Wearing sky blue at the time, Chloe Kelly equalised for City, but thankfully we had the last laugh when Stina Blackstenius won it in the 87th minute.

We would go on to spend the majority of the season in third, where we ultimately finished, five points behind City.
