Man City are one of three Premier League clubs who have sent scouts to see Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Lennart Karl in action, according to reports in Germany.
Fussballdaten.de claim that “senior representatives” from Pep Guardiola’s side, Chelsea and Arsenal have been to the Allianz Arena to watch the teenager’s progress “up close”.
Karl is only 17 years of age, but he has put in some impressive performances for Vincent Kompany‘s team this season.

The German has scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists in 29 appearances, with his most recent goal coming against FC Cologne during a 3-1 win last month.
Bayern are determined to keep Karl
The Bundesliga giants locked down the youngster to a professional contract back in August. He signed a three-year deal, which officially becomes active when he turns 18 on February 22nd.
With there being no release clause in his contract, Bayern effectively have complete control over Karl’s future.
Fussballdaten describe the player as being both “unsellable” and “untouchable”, yet they believe there is a price tag which could lead to the player being offloaded. It would reportedly require a fee between €80m (£69m) and €90m (£77.7m).
Man City’s main rival won’t be another English club
While Chelsea and Arsenal are said to be keen on Karl, along with the Cityzens, it is believed that Real Madrid pose the greatest threat if the midfielder opts to leave Bayern in the future. Speaking a few weeks ago, he revealed that the La Liga side would be his ideal destination:
“FC Bayern is a very big club. It’s a dream to play there. But at some point, I definitely want to go to Real Madrid. That is my dream club, but let’s keep that between us.”
Kompany subsequently described those remarks as a “communicative error” but it’s clear Karl may not stay at Bayern for the rest of his career.
