Curtis Jones sees his contract expire in the summer of 2027 with Arne Slot now providing an update.
The 25-year-old England international has featured prominently this season, racking up 29 appearances across all competitions despite intense midfield competition, but his lack of a new deal has opened the door to speculation about a potential exit.
Recent winter interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan has opened up serious questions about the Scouser’s future, although the club firmly blocked the interest from the Serie A giants.
Arne Slot, speaking in his pre-Manchester City press conference, has revealed that talks are talking place with Jones but otherwise held the cards close to his chest:
“I think what you’ve seen… he has played a lot of minutes and unlucky in the sense that midfield is the only line we haven’t had injuries, but we kept because we have players but we need players in these positions. And the moment you start to need midfielders in different positions, the line gets smaller and smaller. We kept him, his situation hasn’t changed to us, he is one of 16 outfield players available we have with two young players in Nyoni and Ngumoha, so it would be strange if we let anyone go.”
“Interesting, someone else asks contracts questions, talks are taking place in other places. The moment we have news, we share it here. We are all aware he has 18 months left, so that is all I can say.”
