Former Celtics 1st-round pick traded to Bulls (report)

Guerschon Yabusele, as expected, was moved from the Knicks ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline. Yabusele is headed to the Bulls in exchange for Dalen Terry, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Yabusele signed a two-year deal with the Knicks over the offseason. He was a nice story after reviving his NBA career, putting together a solid 2024-25 campaign with the 76ers. Yabusele was expected to contribute for a Knicks team hoping to make another deep playoff run.

But instead, it’s been a disappointing season for Yabusele as he didn’t crack the rotation on a consistent basis. He averaged just 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds over 8.9 minutes per game in his 41 games played this year.

Yabusele now gets a chance to play more minutes for a Chicago team going through various trades at the deadline. The Celtics moved Anfernee Simons to the Bulls in exchange for Nikola Vucevic, though it sounds like the Bulls could move Simons in a subsequent deal.

Yabusele made his way back stateside after a breakout performance in the 2024 Paris Olympics. He was a bright spot in Philadelphia last season, which helped him ink the deal with the Knicks. At his best, Yabusele is a solid 3-and-D player who boasts NBA athleticism.
