Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has confirmed Jeremie Frimpong will be missing again this weekend when his team host Manchester City in the Premier League. The Blues travel to Anfield on Sunday knowing this clash will once again go a long way to deciding their fate in the title race.
Unlike last season, it is City who stand a realistic chance of lifting the Premier League trophy at the end of the season. Liverpool have struggled for consistency and find themselves tussling for Champions League qualification instead of the title. Ahead of the clash with Pep Guardiola's side, Slot provided an update on two injured players.
Frimpong missed the victory over Newcastle on Saturday with a groin problem, while Joe Gomez has missed the last two games with a hip problem. Liverpool's boss has confirmed the clash with City comes too soon for Frimpong.

"Jeremie will definitely not train this week so he is not available for the weekend," Slot said. "With Joe, we have a little bit of hope that he might train Saturday so not available to start but maybe available to help the team if needed because, as you know, there are not many defenders available at the moment."
Liverpool defenders Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni are both missing with long-term issues. Meanwhile, striker Alexander Isak is also sidelined along with youngsters Jayden Danns and Stefan Bajcetic. As for City, they are sweating on the fitness of Bernardo Silva ahead of the game at Anfield.
Bernardo picked up an issue at Tottenham on Sunday and did not play against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg. "We'll see. Yesterday he said to me, I don't feel quite good, I want to try," Guardiola explained in his post-match press conference.
"It's a position that is less dangerous than a hamstring, it's another type of muscle, but we'll see." Rayan Cherki was a doubt going into the Newcastle game but he managed to play 20 minutes from the bench and should be fit for the Liverpool game.
