Pep Guardiola has moaned at Manchester City reaching the Carabao Cup final next month.
Pep Guardiola has complained about Manchester City needing to travel to London for the Carabao Cup final.
A ruthless City side put Newcastle United to the sword 5-1 on aggregate over two semi-final fixtures. Any glimmer of hopes the Magpies had of overcoming a two-goal deficit were dashed after just seven minutes.
The result ended Newcastle’s defence of the Carabao Cup and piled further pressure on Eddie Howe. For the first time as Toon boss, the 48-year-old is facing increasing scrutiny over his future.
Pep Guardiola issues bizarre complaint
Newcastle supporters would have been in dreamland at the thought of another Wembley final. However, Guardiola is not impressed, viewing a trip to London as a chore rather than a privilege.
For context, this will be the 32nd time Man City have played at the national stadium in the last 15 seasons. If they do not wish to go, there will no doubt be a team in black and white who would happily take their place…
“We’re going to travel to London, they (Arsenal) will wait for us there,” Guardiola bemoaned at the full-time whistle. “All the time we have to travel. Never (the opposition) travel to the North of England (for a final).”
“It’s a pleasure to play against Arsenal, the best team right now in Europe, maybe the world for many things; stats, consistency, many details they control. As much as we play against them, it’ll make us better.”

Eddie Howe on Manchester City defeat

“It could have been different but we accept the reality. The last thing you want to do is have to chase a game. We were going for the match, we were trying to attack."
