Manchester City travel to face Liverpool this weekend, and both sides will be hoping to solidify some Premier League momentum. Pep Guardiola's side will want to keep pressure on Arsenal at the top of the division, while the Reds target a European spot.

City secured a straightforward three points in November but will face a Liverpool side in improved form. Reds boss Arne Slot still has a number of significant injuries to deal with but believes the clash will provide an important marker for his team.

"We were completely outplayed when we played them in the first half earlier in the season," the Dutch coach admitted in his press conference on Thursday.

"This is a moment to see where we are with the development of this team. We know the importance with the result on Sunday. It's the end phase of the season, so results matter more and more."

Joe Gomez.

The Liverpool defender is yet to return to action following a groin injury, but he could potentially make a comeback this weekend. Slot has confirmed that Gomez's condition won't allow him to start, but he could still play a supportive role.

"Joe might train on Saturday," Slot revealed. "He won't be available to start but may be available to help the team against City."

Possible return date: 08/02.

Jeremie Frimpong.

Speaking in January, Arne Slot confirmed that Frimpong would be sidelined for several weeks following a thigh injury. While the diagnosis proved more favourable than initially feared Frimpong, a former City youth player who grew up in Clayton, continues to be unavailable.

"Jeremie won't train this week so won't play this weekend," Slot said in his press conference ahead of City.

Possible return date: 21/02.

Alexander Isak.

Isak was present in the stands during Liverpool's victory over Newcastle, but remains a considerable distance from returning after breaking his leg. The striker is still out for multiple months as he recuperates from surgery on an ankle problem.

"He's not even on the pitch yet," Slot said last month. "He's just out of his walker, so that tells you that we're not expecting him on the pitch today or tomorrow in terms of his recovery work. That's going to take a while before he's back, as we knew."

Possible return date: 21/03.

Giovanni Leoni.

Teenage centre-back Giovanni Leoni is unlikely to feature again until next season following a season-ending ACL injury sustained on his debut, which required surgery in September.

Possible return date: 03/08.

Conor Bradley.

Conor Bradley is unlikely to appear for Liverpool again this season following a knee injury sustained in the draw with Arsenal earlier this month, which required surgery. A statement from the club regarding Bradley stated: "He will undergo [knee] surgery in the coming days and then begin a period of rehabilitation. No timeframe is being placed on his return to playing at this stage of the process."

Possible return date: 21/11.
