Only one Chelsea player who played just 15 mins makes Carabao Cup Team of the Round

Somehow, Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho has made the Carabao Cup Team of the Semi-Final after playing just 15 minutes.

Not one other single Chelsea player has made the team, showing really that there was no standouts on their side, at least in terms of the stats anyway.

Quite a few Arsenal players have made the team and they take up the majority, and the rest are filled with Manchester City players, as they beat Newcastle United in their semi final last night. Arsenal and City will now face off in the final in March, Chelsea and Newcastle head out of the competition.

I don’t even think Garnacho was any good when he came on, but he miraculously made this team, as you can see in the image below!

I honestly do not know what has happened here! I guess it just proves that the eye test is and always will be the most important way to measure performances in football, rather than getting obsessed with data and stats which in this case, clearly matters very little.

I think it’s probably based around how well Garnacho kept the ball, as he rarely gave it away. But that’s just because he was always just playing safe or passing backwards.

Stats are often heavily looked at in modern day football, and it splits opinions as you can read above in the main story of this article. But interestingly, some stats we came across earlier this week shows that Chelsea only have a 25% win rate when one player is starting in the team. It doesn’t look good for them!
