Lakers player suspended for shoving opposing team’s mascot

Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes has been suspended by the NBA for one game for shoving the Washington Wizards mascot last week.

The incident occurred Jan. 30 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., when [Hayes appeared on video](https://www.reddit.com/r/lakers/comments/1qw0v1y/footage_of_jaxson_hayes_pushing_the_wizards/) shoving a Wizards mascot during pre-game introductions, the [NBA announced](https://x.com/NBAPR/status/2019139011760254991). His one-game suspension will be without pay.

LA defeated the Wizards, 142-111. Hayes finished the game with 10 points, three rebounds and one assist in 13 minutes played.

The Lakers’ next game is tonight, Feb. 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Hayes, 25, is in his seventh season in the NBA, including his third with the Lakers. In 41 games played this season, the 7-foot center is averaging 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game.
