Nuggets' Nikola Jokic ties Oscar Roberton's long-time NBA record as superstar chases down history

For a long time, Oscar Robertson's record for career triple-doubles looked like it would never be touched.

That changed when Russell Westbrook came along, but Robertson is still second all-time in NBA history with his 181 triple-doubles.

Now, Robertson has company.

Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic recorded the 181st triple-double of his career on Wednesday night. He's now tied with Robertson.

Westbrook has 207 in his career, and while he could add a couple more, he's most of the way done putting up such numbers.

That means that Jokic has a legitimate chance of chasing this all-time record down for himself when all is said and done.

The big day for Jokic came in a disappointing double-overtime defeat at the hands of the New York Knicks.

Jokic went for 30 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in 45 minutes. Amazingly, he didn't turn the ball over once.

More frustrating for Jokic, though, were certainly his shooting numbers.

He shot 10-for-27 from the floor, not great. And from 3-point range? Jokic was a ghastly 1-for-13.

Jamal Murray struggled, too, en route to 39 points (15-33 FG, 3-14 3FG).

The Nuggets fell to 33-19 with the defeat, while the Knicks improved to 33-18, a very even battle across the board.

Jokic will almost certainly surpass Robertson shortly, and then he'll just be trying to chase down Russ to prove his superiority in a stat that never seemed like a statistic for a center to rack up until Jokic came along.
