Liam Rosenior jumps to defence of Chelsea signing after'difficult'outing

In recent days, several Chelsea players have come in for criticism, including a few of their summer signings.

Liam Rosenior experimented with Liam Delap in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Tuesday, which did not really work.

The striker started on the right and struggled there. According to former Premier League forward Troy Deeney, Delap is not enjoying his football at the moment.

Is Liam Delap not good enough for Chelsea or are we not playing to his strengths?🤔

Before that, Alejandro Garnacho also had a bad game against West Ham United.

Liam Rosenior defends Alejandro Garnacho

After a disastrous first half that saw Chelsea fall two goals behind, Garnacho was brought off at the interval.

The winger has received a barrage of criticism for that performance, while Rosenior has admitted that he did struggle.

However, the Chelsea head coach has defended his player, claiming that he was much better against Arsenal.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Blues’ trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Rosenior said via football.london: “I’ve spoken to all of the players. I don’t know where the criticism comes from. Garna had a difficult half against West Ham but he showed some really bright moments coming on against Arsenal.”

Garnacho is having a horrible time of things…

Is this Liam Rosenior’s biggest mistake so far today?

With Jamie Gittens injured and set for an extended period on the sidelines, Garnacho has an excellent opportunity to nail down the spot on the left-hand side.

More displays like his one against West Ham, though, and it will likely go to Pedro Neto, with Estevao Willian starting on the opposite flank.

Garnacho is capable of making an impact, as he showed with his two goals against Arsenal in the first leg of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final tie. The Argentina international now needs to find some consistency.
