Liam Rosenior has only been in the Chelsea job for a few weeks and yet, he has managed to bring a feel-good factor back to the club despite Tuesday’s defeat to Arsenal.
Beating Arsenal in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup was always going to be a tall order for Chelsea. Especially, because the first leg came in the midst of a virus at Chelsea, Rosenior’s fourth day as boss.
Then, the second leg, Chelsea were a goal down at The Emirates. Newcastle’s defeat to Man City proved that despite some criticism, Rosenior was right to play negatively for the first hour in North London.
Did Rosenior get his tactics wrong against Arteta? 🤔
Hindsight is a wonderful thing…
But John Terry is yet to be convinced by Rosenior, and even after such a short period of time, some club legends have picked the manager they want next in the dugout. Eden Hazard has identified his choice.
Fabregas reacts as Hazard urges him to take Chelsea job
Since taking over a newly-promoted Como in the summer of 2024, Fabregas has sparkled as manager. He guided the Italian side to tenth in his first season, for a newly-promoted club, is almost miraculous.
This season, Como sit sixth and as things stand, look good to qualify for Europe. Fabregas has taken to management like a duck to water and speaking to Gazzetta, Hazard says he told Fabregas to join Chelsea.

Indeed, Hazard explains why it is his “dream” to have his old Chelsea teammate in the dugout, while also sharing how the current Como manager reacted to his call for Fabregas to return to Chelsea as manager.
“I’ll be honest. We talked over the summer. I told him he was one of the best midfielders in history, and he’s destined to become one of the best coaches, too. I explained that it was time to return to Chelsea.
“He joked about it, but I really think so. He loves football, he knows everything. I’m a Chelsea fan, I want the best for the club: that’s why I dream of Cesc on the bench, while I’m in the stands, enjoying the show.”
John Terry agrees with Eden Hazard on Cesc Fabregas
Fabregas’ time at Como has been somewhat incredible. He initially joined them in the summer of 2022 as a player, retiring a year later before becoming U19 manager. A few months later, he was interim gaffer.
Whenever Boehly pulls the trigger on Rosenior, who are YOU hiring? 😤
Terry would love Fabregas…
But because he lacked the UEFA badges, he could only be interim for a month. After obtaining the license, and after Oisin Roberts had guided Como to promotion, the Italian club handed Fabregas the reins.
Since then, he’s won 27 of 64 games. A ratio of around 43%, which is incredible given Como were only promoted 18 months ago. John Terry believes Fabregas will manage Chelsea or Arsenal at the top level.
But for now, and with Como set for Europe next season as things stand, and Chelsea only just appointing Rosenior, Terry and Hazard will have to wait a while before they see Fabregas appointed Chelsea gaffer.
