City in the Community (CITC), the official charity of Manchester City, has announced a new supplier partnership with FuelHub, strengthening its commitment to empowering healthier lives through football.
FuelHub are joining forces with CITC to offer young people in Greater Manchester to ensure that young people have access to healthy, nutritious meals during the school holidays.
FuelHub’s meals are created and designed by expert nutritionists and development chefs, using high-quality, fresh ingredients.
CITC and FuelHub aim to make sure young people who attend the CITC Soccer Schools are fed with quality, filling and nutritious meals whilst taking part in healthy, physical activity with CITC.
FuelHub CEO and Co-Founder, Michelle Laithwaite commented on the partnership saying: “City in the Community shares our belief that long-term change starts with investing in young people.
“By fuelling CITC Soccer Schools for the next 12-months, we’re committing to supporting healthier habits, stronger communities and better outcomes for young people across Manchester. We’re excited about the impact we can make together.”
Niamh Sweeney, Community Inclusion Manager at City in the Community commented on the importance of the partnership saying: “We are proud to have been supporting young people in Manchester with free food and football during the school holidays for many decades.
“We are pleased to team up with FuelHub on that mission, which will see them become our Official Soccer Schools Meal Supplier’.
“This progressive, new relationship will enable city youth to access the healthiest and highest quality food possible, and we would like to thank FuelHub for their passionate support.”
City in the Community’s Soccer Schools engage participants aged 6-16 in open access football, increasing physical activity throughout the school holidays with regular sessions in communities across the city.
Participants are provided with free full day structured coaching sessions as well as free food provision at all sites to tackle holiday hunger throughout the city. Sessions are also adapted to include educational and supportive workshops to highlight important topics such as mental health and anti-bullying.
Soccer Schools are delivered in a host of venues around Manchester including the following:
East Manchester - Connell College / City Football Academy
Moss Side/Hulme - Trinity Sports Centre
Wythenshawe - Manchester Enterprise Academy
