The 1 Ayo Dosunmu stat that makes him perfect trade get by Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Chicago Bulls are staying busy ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

On Thursday morning, the Wolves agreed to a deal that brings them guard Ayo Dosunmu from the Bulls, according to The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski.

Krawczynski calls Dosunmu a "big addition" to the Wolves, and there are a bunch of reasons why.

One thing stands out, though: This season, he's shooting a blistering 45.1% from 3-point range.

That has resulted in an average of 15.0 points per game while also putting up 3.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 0.8 steals per contest.

The 6-foot-4 Dosunmu was a college star at Illinois before being a second-round pick of Chicago in 2021, but he wasn't always expected to be a great outside shooter in the NBA.

In his second season, he shot 31.2% from 3, and in his fourth, it was 32.8%.

But in his first, he was at 37.6%, then 40.3% in his third, and now the 45.1% this season.

That might suggest some continued growing pains as Dosunmu has refined his shot, but you don't get to 45 percent from deep without legitimately effective mechanics.

Also encouraging on the shooting front is that Dosunmu is comfortably at a career-high 85.7% from the foul line, which suggests his continued shooting improvements are for real.

He won't have to start in Minnesota, but bringing a rapid-fire scorer and athlete like Dosunmu off the bench is a great fit for a team with a lot of size and not a ton of guard depth.

The Bulls had a lot of guards, and they get rid of one here in a deal that certainly makes the Timberwolves better.
