Ayo Dosunmu, Giannis: Milwaukee Bucks at Chicago Bulls

No team tried harder to push for a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade this week than the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Unfortunately, the Milwaukee Bucks never showed real interest in any offer made to them for their 2x league MVP (keep reading). So on Thursday morning, the Timberwolves became the latest Giannis suitor to begrudgingly move on.
Minnesota Timberwolves trade for Ayo Dosunmu
Just a couple days after trading Mike Conley to the Chicago Bulls allowed Minnesota to duck under the first apron of the luxury tax, Connelly again turned to the Windy City once he officially decided to drop out of the Antetokounmpo running.
Last time, all the Wolves got from Chicago was cash. This time, they got their new backcourt partner for Anthony Edwards, in freshly-turned 26-year-old (19 days) combo guard, Ayo Dosunmu, who’s averaging 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3.6 assists through 45 games this season.

If you were one of the many Minnesota Timberwolves fans out there who did not want to see any of Julius Randle, Naz Reid OR Jaden McDaniels traded — then this deal is for you.
To reel Dosunmu — a Chicago, IL native who starred at the University of Illinois in college — away from his hometown Bulls, all Connelly had to send East was Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller and four second round picks.
Ayo has continually gotten better, as he’s gained NBA experience. The Wolves also get 22-year-old former 2nd round pick Julian Phillips, a 6’6″ small forward who averaged just under 10 minutes per game with the Bulls (2.8 ppg, 0.2 apg, 1.3 rbg) in 35 games played this season.
Bucks highly unlikely to trade Giannis
The Milwaukee Bucks were never that interested in trading Giannis. That much has become clear.
In fact, had Wolves PoBO Tim Connelly not tried so desperately to get an Antetokounmpo deal done, I bet talks with other teams never advance as far as they did — and Golden State never offers four first round picks, which Brian Windhorst (ESPN) reports they eventually did.
And when the Bucks showed little interest in the Warriors HAUL of an offer, it signaled loud and clear to the rest of the league that Giannis is probably not leaving Milwaukee before today’s 2 p.m. CST NBA trade deadline.
When @GetUpESPN started today, @WindhorstESPN was 60/40 on Giannis staying put. One hour later, he was 70/30. At this point, it sounds like the only chance he's traded to the Wolves is if Giannis gets pushy…
