"New York, I imagined our journey differently, but in an athlete's life, things don't always go as planned. Still, I'm grateful for every moment wearing this legendary jersey. Thank you to the staff, my teammates, and the fans for the support and energy. Wishing you all the best moving forward," Yabusele wrote on social media.
The Knicks traded Yabusele to the Chicago Bulls for Dalen Terry.
The Knicks were compelled to move Yabusele as they did not want to absorb the big man's $5.7 million 2026-27 player option, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer. In return, they receive Terry's expiring contract.
After a rough season with the Knicks, Yabusele is set for a fresh start in the Windy City. The French star endured limited playing time under head coach Mike Brown and faced some drama, averaging 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in 41 games.
He signed a two-year, $11.7 million contract last offseason with New York after a highly impressive comeback season in the NBA in 2024-25 with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Terry, who holds an expiring contract worth over $5 million, spent the last four seasons with the Bulls and is averaging 3.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists this year.
