Bucks expected to shut down Giannis if he isn't traded, per report

NBA insider Brian Windhorst expects the Bucks to shut down Giannis Antetokounmpo for the season if he is not traded today.

There's still no certainty about Giannis Antetokounmpo's future with the Milwaukee Bucks, with only hours remaining until the NBA trade deadline.

For now, it seems more likely that he will stay with the Bucks, but even if that happens, it might not mean he will return to the court this season.

NBA insider Brian Windhorst expects the Bucks to shut down Giannis Antetokounmpo for the season if he isn't traded today.

"What I suspect is going to happen is that the Bucks will deactivate Giannis and not play him for the rest of the season, or very close to it if not the rest of the season, because their future now is highly dependent on their draft pick and Giannis avoiding injury," Windhorst reported on ESPN's First Take show.

For now, it seems the Miami Heat remain the only realistic trade destination for Giannis, as Windhorst believes the Minnesota Timberwolves' chances—who were mentioned as a potential second team in the race for Giannis—faded after they traded for Ayo Dosunmu earlier.

"You can tell Minnesota is not getting Giannis today," Windhorst reacted to the Timberwolves' deal.
