Pacers' trade cost for Ivica Zubac revealed by ESPN's Brian Windhorst

The Indiana Pacers popped up in a surprising trade rumor overnight.

Apparently, they're trying to trade for Los Angeles Clippers 7-foot center Ivica Zubac.

Now, we know what it'll cost

ESPN's Brian Windhorst said this Thursday morning: "If Ivica Zubac gets traded today, he's going to get traded for more than Anthony Davis was traded for. Multiple 1st-round draft picks."

It does make sense, even if it sounds weird.

Zubac is younger and is under contract two more seasons after this one at an affordable rate.

This season, the 7-footer is averaging 14.4 points and 11.0 rebounds per game while shooting 61.3% from the floor.

He's a throwback center, having not attempted a single 3-pointer all season.

The Pacers would be acquiring him with an eye on giving him the next two seasons paired with Tyrese Haliburton once the superstar point guard returns to health.

Indiana certainly doesn't have a lot of center depth right now, but the Pacers haven't prioritized upgrading the roster for this season. They know their contention window re-opens next season when Haliburton is back.

Zubac would be a big acquisition, and a forward-thinking one, by the Pacers.

The trade deadline is Thursday afternoon, so if a deal is coming, it'll happen soon.
