The Milwaukee Bucks took to X to post a petty response to the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade news.
The Bucks’ social media posted the yawning emoji after news broke that the team would not be trading Antetokounmpo prior to the 2026 NBA trade deadline.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Bucks will keep Antetokounmpo hours before the deadline and will focus on other deals to improve the team.
Charania also added that the Bucks believe they can build a title contending team around the Greek Freak this summer. That remains to be seen.
Can the Bucks Convince Giannis a Second Title Is Still Possible?
NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that a team executive said they were never serious about trading their 10-time All-Star.
Antetokounmpo remains out of the lineup after suffering a significant calf injury on Jan. 23 against the Denver Nuggets. This is the second calf injury that he has suffered, limiting him to 30 games this season. Antetokounmpo is set to be out for at least another two to four weeks; however, head coach Doc Rivers said there is no timetable for a return.
Eric Nehm of The Athletic reported that Antetokounmpo was adamant in wanting to remain a Buck for the rest of his career.
"Brother, if you ask me deep down what I want today, I want to be a Milwaukee Buck for the rest of my career," Antetokounmpo said. "I want to win here, another championship. And if you can tell me that's possible, let's just hang up the phone.
"You know basketball. You see basketball. You understand basketball. You've been around greatness. You've been around a championship team. You've been around a good culture. You've been around when the popcorn was popping. You were around; you saw it. If you tell me that that's possible, we can hang up the phone and keep on moving with our day."
The Bucks are on the outside looking in regarding the playoff picture. They sit with a 20-29 record and are three games out of the last spot in the play-in.
