Gabriel Agbonlahor says £30m Chelsea player made a huge mistake snubbing Everton

One Chelsea player has now been told that he made a mistake in not signing for Everton over the summer.

Over recent months, Everton have raided Chelsea for some of their unwanted talents.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is loving life at Everton following his move from west London to Merseyside over the summer.

More recently, Everton have landed the loan signing of Tyrique George on Monday’s transfer deadline day.

George is already impressing in Everton training as fans will be hoping for another success story to come from Stamford Bridge.

Deadline day is now done… what’s your thoughts, Toffees? 😬

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Gabriel Agbonlahor has shared his concerns over Delap in west London’s performances after snubbing a move to Everton.

“I said, when he joined Chelsea, I thought Liam Delap should have gone to a team like Everton; develop there for a couple of years and then make the move to a top six side,” said Agbonlahor.

“I think the jump from Ipswich to Chelsea was too much.”

Delap even spoke directly to Moyes about joining Everton, but those talks were not enough to convince him of joining.

Everton’s strikers have also come under fire this season, but there may well be a case of what if Delap had made the move to Merseyside over Chelsea.

Liam Delap has scored fewer than Thierno Barry and Beto

Having seen him join the Londoners in the summer, Everton fans knew Delap would struggle at Chelsea given just how big of a jump up it was from Ipswich.

That has absolutely proven to be the case as he has returned a pitiful return of just one Premier League goal this season.

It was suggested that Delap was really impressed with Everton’s transfer meeting when he met with the Toffees over the summer.

His decision was clearly not made with his head as he chose a club where he has not been guaranteed regular minutes to develop his game.

Thierno Barry and Beto may not have been in the hottest of form all season, but the pair both have more goals to their names than Delap.
