New York Knicks' Josh Hart is reacting to the team's trade for Pelicans' Jose Alvarado, and he's making his stance clear.

The NBA trade deadline came and went on Thursday, February 5, and now, teams are shaking off the dust and starting to look at their now, post-trade rosters. One of those teams is the New York Knicks, who was able to secure their longtime trade target, Jose Alvarado, by deadline.

Now, Alvarado is a bona fide member of the New York Knicks. According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Leon Rose and company acquired the fifth-year guard from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Dalen Terry, two second-round picks, and cash considerations.

“The New York Knicks are trading Guerschon Yabusele to the Chicago Bulls for Dalen Terry, sources tell ESPN,” Charania stated on X just after midnight on Thursday, February 5. Talk about an overnight deal.

According to a report on the NBA’s official website, “New York reportedly has agreed to a trade with New Orleans to acquire guard Jose Alvarado in exchange for Dalen Terry, two second-round picks and cash, according to multiple reports.”

So, what do the players on the New York Knicks’ squad think of it? Now, Josh Hart has broken his silence on the deal with a one-word response.

Josh Hart Has One-Word Response to Knicks Trade for Pelicans’ Jose Alvarado

On Thursday, February 5, Hart took to X to respond to the trade bringing Alvarado to the Big Apple. He seems to be strongly welcoming him to the fold, simply stating, “JOSEEEEEEE.”

Alvarado has a career average of 8.1 points, three assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game to the Knicks roster, according to ESPN research.

So far, voices are positive about the trade. “He should be an immediate help as guard Deuce McBride is headed for surgery on a sports hernia,” the NBA commented on their official website. “McBride will be out for an unknown amount of time, per reports. Alvarado has developed a reputation as a heady defender with a penchant for sneaking up on ball-handlers to make back-court steals.”

They add, “He was known for similar exploits in college, earning the nickname ‘Grand Theft Alvarado,’ and he was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.”

A+ to the New York Knicks

Sam Quinn of CBS Sprots gives the Knicks an A+ for the trade in a feature published on Thursday, February 5.

“The Knicks had minimal matching salary to work with at this year’s deadline. Essentially, it was Guerschon Yabusele and a couple of minimums,” he notes in the piece. “There wasn’t a path to them adding someone expensive without giving up a core player, which they seemingly had no interest in doing.”

He adds, “Therefore, the goal was getting an affordable reserve who’d fit their culture and be able to contribute 10 or 15 solid minutes per night. That’s Alvarado in a nutshell. Think Josh Hart, but six inches shorter. Few guards in the NBA play as hard as Alvarado does.”

Quinn also adds of the trade, “A low Alvarado cap figure next season could at least lower a hefty tax bill for the Knicks. They can afford it, but hey, it’s always easier not to ask the owner to spend unnecessarily.”
