Arsenal and Chelsea interested in Brazilian midfielder

Chelsea will aim to return to winning ways when they visit visit 20th-placed Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues have won six of their eight matches since Liam Rosenior was appointed as head coach last month, with their only two defeats coming in either leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against London rivals Arsenal.

Former Chelsea man Kai Havertz netted the winner as Arsenal beat the Blues 1-0 in the second leg on Tuesday, following a 3-2 victory at Stamford Bridge in the first.

Now, it appears that the two sides are battling it out in the race to sign a highly rated Brazilian youngster.

As per CaughtOffside, both Chelsea and Arsenal are monitoring Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon, who has impressed in recent months.

Despite being just 20-years-old, Bidon has already made more than 100 appearances for Corinthians across all competitions, having graduated through the Brazilian giants’ academy.

The youngster’s impressive displays for Corinthians have attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and the report claims that Arsenal have already held initial discussions about a possible move for the midfielder.

Chelsea have also been keeping tabs on the player, though, and it is suggested that the west London outfit could also enter the race to sign the player, who is set to be the subject of a transfer saga this summer.

Bidon’s contract with his boyhood club is set to run until the end of 2029, and the deal is said to include a release clause set at approximately £80 million.

At present, Arsenal are said to have shown the most interest in the youngster, and the fact that the north London giants have already initiated talks suggests that the Premier League leaders are in pole position to sign the player.
