Alexis Mac Allister’s father says his son is happy at Liverpool amid claims of Real Madrid interest.
Carlos Mac Allister gave an interview to Win Win to discuss his son’s current situation at Liverpool.
The Argentina international arrived at Anfield from Brighton & Hove Albion in June 2023 and has been a regular for Liverpool.
Real Madrid claims first emerged when Carlos Ancelotti was in charge at the La Liga side. The Italian left the club at the end of last season but the links haven’t gone away. That said, it hasn’t been a big deal in the Spanish media.
In November, Carlos admitted it’s “always nice” to read about the Real Madrid links.
He then also said: “I have to be prudent. He plays for Liverpool now. In the future, if the opportunity arises and it’s appropriate, he’ll have to make his own decisions. That’s what I’ve raised them to be. I have the freedom to give them my opinion, and they have the obligation to do what they think is best.”
A month later, the Liverpool player admitted he would like to move to Spain at some point in the future.
Earlier this week, the UK media again reported on Ancelotti wanting the 27-year-old at Real Madrid. A move never materialised but the Spanish giants received positive signals for his camp.
Mac Allister has a contract until 2028. His contract situation might make it feasible for Real Madrid to sign him in the near future.
Win Win got in touch with the World Cup winner’s father to specifically ask about the possibility of his son leaving Arne Slot’s side for Real Madrid. After both Mac Allister and his father encouraged the Real Madrid links earlier, the latter has now taken a U-turn.
“What I can say at the moment is that Alexis is focused on Liverpool and the current season. Alexis is very happy and very comfortable at Liverpool,” he said.
