Charlotte Hornets acquire frontcourt depth in former NBA Champion

The Charlotte Hornets have made plenty of moves at the trade deadline, preparing their roster for what would be their first playoff appearance in the last 10 years.

Most notably, they made a move to acquire Coby White and Mike Conley from the Chicago Bulls.

Conley has already been waived following the move.

Additionally, the Hornets acquired and have already shipped out veteran guard Tyus Jones. Jones was acquired from the Orlando Magic and traded to the Dallas Mavericks not long after.

That said, Charlotte finally made a move to enforce their frontcourt depth as the trade deadline came to a close Thursday, acquiring former NBA Champion Xavier Tillman Sr. and cash from the Boston Celtics.

For Boston, this move gets them under the tax, while the Hornets have picked up a solid bench contributor.

In Tillman's strongest season with the Memphis Grizzlies, he averaged seven points per game and five rebounds per game off the bench. He also averages a career 0.8 steals per game.

Tillman would give the Hornets some versatility off the bench as he can switch on and defend multiple positions.

That said, it remains to be seen whether or not Charlotte will keep him.

Given his ties Charlotte's current head coach Charles Lee, all signs point to Tillman entering the Hornets rotation.

In the meantime, Charlotte heads to Houston Thursday night, putting their current seven-game win streak on the line against Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets.

If they were to earn a victory, it would mark the first time that the Hornets won eight consecutive games since the 1998-99 season.
